IMPORTANT – IF WE DON’T’ ALL ACT NOW, WE MAY NOT GET NEEDED FEDERAL FUNDING!! – SPREAD THE WORD!!
If you have not already done so, please call 211 as soon as possible to report all damages resulting from the flooding.
All damages need to be reported by 5:00 pm on Friday, June 22, 2018 (tomorrow).
What do you say?
The 211 staff will ask for:
– Name
– Address
– Phone number
– What was damaged – be specific – location, damaged items, structure, etc.
– Estimated cost – but don’t worry if you don’t know – that’s OK.
What counts?
– Flooded basement: drywall damage? furnace, washer/dryer, water heater? – even if nothing was permanently damaged but you had to call a plumber to pump it out, CALL!!!
– Flooded/damaged homes, outbuildings, saunas.
– Washed out driveways, private roads, beaches, yards.
– Please report, even if you cleaned or fixed the damages yourself.
– Everything counts!
Why?
– FEMA has a minimum dollar amount threshold in cost of damages that we need to meet in order to get FEMA relief funds for the community.
– Every dollar, every bit of damaged property, regardless of how small or insignificant it may seem, will COUNT towards meeting that threshold.
– Our local economy will suffer greatly if we don’t’ get the FEMA funds.
– The State of Michigan will evaluation the numbers collected on Monday, June 25
– FEMA will be in Houghton County on July 2nd or 3rd to assess the damage.
Please spread the word. Many of our neighbors are overwhelmed and not aware of this. Please help them and help our community.
Thank you!
