Bond Work Set To Begin At Houghton Schools

Work at Houghton-Portage Township Schools that is part of the bond passed by voters is set to begin.

That’s the word from the latest newsletter released Monday by the school, which says they are planning and ordering all the materials needed for the renovation and update.

The construction will start this week with some prep work on the track and field area, but construction on the school and other more invasive construction will be starting when school gets out for the summer.

This work will consist of the removal of the lockers, renovation on the bathrooms, new parking lots, and a new entrance at the elementary school.

The construction on the football field is scheduled to be completed before the first home game on August 24th.

Construction on the sports complex will be done by mid-October, in time to allow Houghton to hold track meets once again after many years.

In addition to the new outdoor sports complex, there will also be updates on the concession area.
