Bond Issue On Ballot For Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Area Schools

A bond proposal is on the ballot next month for residents in the Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Area School District.

The School Board unanimously called for a bond election to be held August 6th in the amount of $4,685,000.

The bond would allow the district to build additions to remodel, furnish, and equip the 105-year-old school with security upgrades, update the boiler system, provide a new gym roof and parking lot, as well as new classrooms, gym, preschool, bathrooms, and kitchen.

If approved, the project would result in an increase of 3.5 mils for local citizens.

Two informational meetings are scheduled for residents to learn more and get questions answered.

They will be held on Monday, July 29th at 7:00p.m. at the school and Wednesday, July 31st at 7:00p.m. at the Tamarack City Fire Hall.

Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Area Schools is a K-12 district of approximately 330 students, with a teaching staff of 21, recognized in recent years for academic excellence. The last bond issue for election in DB-TC was in 1997.
