Another march supporting the Black Lives Matter movement took place Saturday on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge.
It wasn’t as big as previous marches, but it remained peaceful, according to the Houghton Police Department.
What brought the marchers to the bridge for the 4th straight weekend, were several things, in addition to support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
One marcher believes police departments as a whole, were founded in racism.
Another marcher felt that funding for police departments should be reduced and the money given to social programs.
You may recall last week, the Hancock Police Department pushed back after two council members suggested trimming the police budget.
