A preschool teacher from the Baraga Houghton & Keweenaw Child Development Center has won an award for being an Early Childhood Educator of Excellence.
Peiying Kuo, who has taught at BHK for the past 16 years, credits her co-workers and mentors, for guiding her along.
In addition to her teaching, Kuo provides family services, including goal achievement, and helping families preserve their home language.
Peiying speaks English, Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese.
Kuo will receive her award next month in Detroit, in a special ceremony partnered with the Detroit Pistons, at Little Caesars Arena.
