Baraga will stage its annual Lumberjack Days celebration this weekend.
Activities begin tomorrow evening, with the crowning of the Lumberjack Queen. Eight candidates are hoping to claim the crown, including Christina Anderson, Madelyn Crawford, Logan DesRochers, Corina Jahfetson, Kayleigh LaBerge, Meadow Paulson, MaKayla Smith and Macee Tolonen.
A street dance will follow on Superior Avenue.
This year’s Grand Marshall is longtime community firefighter and volunteer Scott Nicklas. This year’s princess and prince are Ayden Mackey and Madison LaPlante.
On Sunday, the children’s parade begins at noon, following a pancake breakfast at the school. The main parade starts at 3:30, with the theme “Children’s Books.” Many other activities are planned, culminating with fireworks over Keweenaw Bay Sunday evening.

Because of Lumberjack Days activities, Superior Avenue in Baraga will be closed to all vehicles from 8:00 Sunday morning until after the fireworks end.
