A Baraga High School student is among those helping to make a difference by promoting conservation and the outdoors.
17-year-old Jake Putala is one of a handful of Upper Peninsula students who are serving on the DNR’s Youth Conservation Council, created by the Natural Resources Commission.
Putala says his passion is for the outdoors.
Putala has also participated with Baraga County U.P. Whitetails and the Keweenaw Bay Cutters Chapter of the Wild Turkey Federation.
Now as a member of the council, he will be able to encourage kids to get involved with the outdoors.
Putala participated in his first Youth Conservation Council meeting last weekend. The council meets again in December.
