Baraga Man Sentenced for Threatening L’Anse Store Owner

A Baraga man will remain in jail for threatening a L’Anse store owner with a gun.

Fifty-three-year-old Edwin Allen Bonham was arrested a year ago, after the store owner filed a complaint.

Investigators also found illegal marijuana and a butane hash oil laboratory at his home.

At his sentencing yesterday, Judge Charles Goodman handed down an eight-month term in the Baraga County jail. Some credit for time served will be applied. Bonham was incarcerated after his bond was revoked when he missed a court hearing.

He will spend an additional two years on probation, with special conditions laid out in a plea agreement worked out with Baraga County Prosecutor Joseph O’Leary.
