Baraga County has taken a first step toward reviewing the physical condition of its historic courthouse.
At last night’s board of commissioners meeting, commissioner Bill Menge noted a lot of deterioration…
Menge admitted that there may not be money available for wide-scare repairs right now, but said it was time to start planning. Other commissioners agreed. Menge and commissioner Brad Dakota will lead a committee to pursue an evaluation.
Commissioners also expressed concern about vandalism at the Point Abbye park. Drivers have been taking vehicles past the rock border and onto the hiking trails, causing significant damage. Additional boulders will be added to help keep the area secure.
Additional repair work was authorized on the county administration building. When the roof over the building was replaced recently, problems were noted with the front canopy. $5,900 was allocated to cover the cost.
Commissioners appointed Mike Koskinen and Kathy Hokenson to the Baraga County Extended Care Corporation Board.
