Baraga County Memorial Hospital’s Home Health Care and Durable Medical Equipment Division is moving to the main hospital building.
When the hospital relocated to its new facility in 2011, the Home Health Care-DME business remained behind, in a building adjacent to the old hospital.
At last night’s Baraga County Board of Commissioners meeting, hospital Chief Executive Officer Margie Hale explained that the move to the current campus will save operating expenses, and provide better patient service.
The existing building will be sold, boosting the hospital’s cash reserves.
Prescriptions for hospice patients can be coordinated immediately, and paperwork will flow more smoothly.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Todd Ingram said the entire medical staff is looking forward to the move.
Renovations to accommodate the Home Health Care-DME business are underway, and will cost around $2,600.
The move will take place as soon as work is completed.
