The COVID-19 spotlight is swinging toward Baraga County.
The latest figures from the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department show 44 new confirmed positive cases in Baraga County since the last report was released Thursday night.
Houghton County’s numbers also continue to increase, with 48 new confirmed positives reported. Ontonagon County, which had a huge spike last week, backed off to 16 new positives. Gogebic County had 27 new positives, and Keweenaw County had three.
Two more deaths were reported – one each in Gogebic and Ontonagon Counties.
The report also includes 61 confirmed recoveries.
Since the pandemic began, 1,719 confirmed cases have been diagnosed in the five-county region, with an additional 388 probable cases. 30 of our neighbors have died.
