Aspirus Welcomes Hancock Native To Orthopedic Team

LAURIUM, Mich. – Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and Clinics proudly welcomes Nurse Practitioner Clint Pakkala, NP, to its excellent orthopedic team. Pakkala specializes in pre- and post-operative care and treatment of patients suffering from a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including diseases or injuries of the bones, muscles, and joints. He joins Aspirus Orthopedic Surgeons Frederick Rau, MD, and Mark Kelley, MD, FACS, in delivering a higher level of orthopedic care, including sports medicine, for patients close to home.

Pakkala is originally from Hancock, where he graduated high school in 1999. He earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Downer Grove, Illinois, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Finlandia University in Hancock. He is a Michigan-licensed registered nurse and family nurse practitioner; and he is a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Certifications include Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Trauma Nursing Core Course and Advanced Burn Life Support.

Pakkala is a familiar face at Aspirus, having worked as a nurse in the medical-surgical and intensive care units at Asprius Wausau Hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin, and Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium. Working alongside Aspirus orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists and nurses, he strives to help patients recover from surgery, rehabilitate from injuries and return to doing the things they love sooner.

“There’s nothing better than helping patients get on the road to recovery quickly and safely to ensure the best outcomes,” Pakkala said. “It’s so rewarding being able to do that and to care for people in the community I live and grew up in.”

Aspirus offers the area’s most complete orthopedic team and ensures each patient receives individualized care from diagnosis to recovery. Expertise ranges from general orthopedic care to the latest in joint replacement techniques.
