Aspirus Ontonagon Supports Ontonagon County Cancer Association

ONTONAGON, Mich. – Every month, providers and staff at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital and Clinics have the option to wear jeans on Fridays for a small fee of $1. At the end of the month, the dollars add up and a local nonprofit organization benefits.

For the month of November, Aspirus selected the Ontonagon County Cancer Association.

“We are always so grateful for the support Aspirus Ontonagon provides throughout the year, not only through monetary contributions but collaborative efforts as well,” said Sandy Morin, a member of the Ontonagon County Cancer Association. “Every little bit helps our organization to bring comfort to our community.”

The Ontonagon Cancer Association is a nonprofit organization that reaches out in Ontonagon County to help residents fight their battle with cancer. The goals of the organization are to educate, provide free PSA and Mammogram screenings, and maintain a loan closet and to provide monetary assistance to county cancer patients.

Partnering with the Ontonagon County Cancer Association is a longtime tradition for Aspirus and the community. Each year, Aspirus sponsors numerous events including the Ontonagon Lake Trout Classic and Cook-Off, Bowling for a Cure, and the Knock Out Cancer Walk. Thousands of dollars in proceeds are raised through these events and are donated to the Ontonagon County Cancer Association to support the local community.

Aspirus is a non-profit, community-directed health system based in Wausau, Wisconsin. With more than 7,000 employees, Aspirus serves communities throughout northern and central Wisconsin, as well as the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The integrated system includes four hospitals in Michigan and four hospitals in Wisconsin, 50 clinics, home health and hospice care, pharmacies, critical care and helicopter transport, medical goods, nursing homes and high-quality affiliated physicians.
