Aspirus Keweenaw Welcomes John Nguyen, DO

Nguyen, John DOLAURIUM – Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium is pleased to welcome John Nguyen, DO, to its excellent general surgery team. Dr. Nguyen joins Dr. Michael McAllister in delivering a higher level of comprehensive surgical services for patients of all ages in the Keweenaw. He is now seeing patients in Laurium and Houghton.

Dr. Nguyen specializes in all aspects of general surgery. He completed his general surgery residency at Oakwood Healthcare System, a Michigan State University Affiliated Hospital, in Trenton, Mich. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.

Prior to Aspirus, Dr. Nguyen was a general surgeon for MidMichigan Medical Center in Clare, Michigan. There, he served as Chief of Staff from 2012-2013.

Certifications include Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support. Professional affiliations include: American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, Christian Medical and Dental Society and Michigan Osteopathic Association.

Dr. Nguyen truly enjoys every aspect of general surgery, from treating critical illnesses to advising patients on outpatient surgical options. Providing quality health care in a sensitive, courteous and compassionate manner is his philosophy of care.

“To me, every patient is a unique individual and is deserving of my utmost care and attention,” Dr. Nguyen said. “I strive to both educate and learn from my patients and never lose sight of their social and emotional well-being.”

Dr. Nguyen is originally from Texas and resides in Hancock. His interests include trail running, travelling and motorcycles.
