Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital welcomes Podiatric Foot and Ankle Surgeon Dr. Jonathan Brueggeman

LAURIUM, Mich. – Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and Clinics is pleased to welcome Jonathan

Brueggeman, DPM, FACFAS, AAPWCA. Dr. Brueggeman is a doctor of podiatric medicine with over 10 years of experience in foot and ankle surgery, as well as limb salvage and deformity correction procedures. He is seeing patients at the Aspirus Laurium and Aspirus Houghton clinics.

Dr. Brueggeman is board certified in Foot Surgery as well as Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He treats all conditions involving the foot and ankle, including: fractures, torn ligaments and tendons, bunions, hammertoes, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid feet, plantar fasciitis and other heel pain, nail fungus, athlete’s foot, plantar warts and other skin legions of the foot.

He also treats post-traumatic angular and functional deformities and has advanced training in correction of flat feet, high-arched feet and other deformities. He performs minor and major joint fusion and joint replacement surgery and provides orthotic and bracing management, as well as shoe modification recommendations.

Dr. Brueggeman earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois. He completed his podiatric surgical residency at St. Joseph Hospital of Chicago also affiliated with the North Chicago Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. 

Prior to Aspirus Keweenaw, he served as a foot and ankle surgeon at Aspirus Riverview Clinic in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. He was a co-director of a wound care clinic in the Copper Country and worked closely with a wound care team at Aurora St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and the Wisconsin Podiatric Medical Association and is an Associate of the American Professional Wound Care Association. 

“My goal is to provide our small community with the highest levels of care,” Dr. Brueggeman said. “I love educating my patients and working with them to develop a personalized plan to resolve their issues as quickly as possible. I believe we can bring big city medicine to our rural community through our training, experience and compassionate care.”
