Aspirus Keweenaw has begun vaccinating employees against COVID-19.
Hospital officials say the first shipment of the Pfizer vaccine arrived yesterday, and inoculations began immediately.
The Laurium hospital was the first in the Aspirus system to receive the vaccine.
Not enough doses were included in the initial shipment to vaccinate all of the employees system-wide, but local officials say there is enough to inoculate all local staff members who wish to receive the shots.
Priority is being given to those who are regularly providing care to patients with COVID-19. Others across the Aspirus system will be inoculated as additional supplies arrive.
