Aspirus Keweenaw Adds Providers

Aspirus Keweenaw has added two new health care providers to its staff.

Tina Ploe is a nurse practitioner who will join the orthopedic team. She’s a Hancock native, and Finlandia University alumna.

Dr. Divis Khaira is an oncologist with an extensive background. She will also treat patients at the Aspirus facilities in Ontonagon and Ironwood.

Aspirus proudly welcomes board certified oncologist Divis Khaira, MD to its cancer care team. Dr. Khaira specializes in oncology and hematology and brings extensive experience to patients of all ages at Aspirus. She joins Audrea Williams, PA-C; Michelle Morel, PA-C; Gustavo Morel, MD; and Heather Nyman, MSN, APRN, FNP-C; in providing the highest levels of care for patients in the Upper Peninsula. She is now seeing patients at Aspirus Keweenaw, Aspirus Ironwood, and Aspirus Ontonagon.

Dr. Khaira has board certifications in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine. She comes to Aspirus from Guam, where she worked as a hospitalist and oncologist. She practiced collaboratively with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of oncology and hematology patients.

Dr. Khaira completed her oncology fellowship at Harbor UCLA and her Hematology and Bone marrow transplant fellowship at City of Hope Medical Center in California. Dr. Khaira earned her medical degree from Christian Medical College, Punjab University from Ludhiana, Punjab, India. She was in private practice for 22 years in Rancho Mirage, California and Sun City, Arizona. Dr. Khaira also was an Assistant Professor and Bone Marrow Transplant hospitalist at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, and University of Washington in Seattle.

Dr. Khaira cares for patients like they are family and looks forward to being active in the community. She enjoys being hands-on and encourages patients to take an active role in their care to ensure the best possible experiences and outcomes.

Dr. Khaira resides in Calumet. Her interests include hiking, golf, and kayaking.

Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and Clinics proudly welcomes Nurse Practitioner Tina Ploe, NP-C, to its excellent orthopedic team. Ploe specializes in pre- and post-operative care and treatment of patients suffering from a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including diseases or injuries of the bones, muscles, and joints. She joins Aspirus Orthopedic Surgeons Frederick Rau, MD, Mark Kelley, MD, FACS, Jennifer Bow, MD, MASc, FRCSC, Nurse Practitioner Clint Pakkala, Sports Medicine Physician Colleen Dupuis, DO and Foot and Ankle Surgeon Jonathan Brueggeman, DPM, FACFAS, AAPWCA in delivering a higher level of orthopedic care, for patients close to home.

Ploe is originally from Hancock, where she graduated high school in 2006. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Finlandia University in Hancock. She is a Michigan-licensed registered nurse and family nurse practitioner. Certifications include Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Trauma Nursing Core Course.

Ploe is a familiar face in the community, having worked as a nurse in the medical-surgical, intensive care unit and Emergency Department at UP Health System – Portage. Working alongside Aspirus orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and nurses, she strives to help patients recover from surgery, rehabilitate from injuries, and return to doing the things they love sooner.

“There’s nothing better than educating patients and helping them get on the road to recovery quickly and safely to ensure the best outcomes,” Ploe said. “It’s so rewarding to be able to care for people in the small community where I live and grew up.”
