Local health care providers are gearing up to provide COVID-19 vaccines to the public. Beginning Monday, people age 65 and older, and designated essential workers, are eligible to be inoculated. That doesn’t mean you’ll get a shot right away – supplies remain limited.
Essential workers younger than age 65, such as teachers and correction workers, are being asked to go through the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department to receive their vaccines.
Community members aged 65 and older will be able to receive their vaccine through local health care providers.
Aspirus clinics across the region will begin scheduling appointments on Monday. Call 844-568-0701.
Aspirus has vaccinated 548 of its staff members in the Upper Peninsula, and has also been inoculating emergency medical services personnel and independent clinical providers.
Baraga County Memorial Hospital will begin offering the vaccine on Thursday. Call 524-3471 and leave a message with your name, phone number, birthdate, and place of employment. They will return a call to you once your eligibility has been verified. BCMH will administer the Pfizer vaccine in two doses, 21 days apart.
UP Health System-Portage and Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center have not yet released information about their plans for providing vaccines.
