Aspiring Women Hosts An Affair Of The Heart

HOUGHTON – Aspirus Keweenaw invites all ladies to
An Affair of the Heart, another fun, festive and FREE Aspiring Women event coming to Houghton in February to celebrate heart health.

An Affair of the Heart will feature Aspirus Cardiologist Peter Vaitkevicius, MD, who will talk about cholesterol – the good, the bad and the ugly – and heart health. There will be opportunities to ask questions, including anonymous questions. Ladies are encouraged to wear red to be entered into a special drawing.

The festive affair includes:

  • Free health screenings
  • Self-defense basics for women
  • Healthy brunch and mimosa bar
  • Presentation from the area’s only full-time cardiologist
  • Photo booth with fun props
  • Valentine wreath making
  • Aspiring Women gift

An Affair of the Heart takes place from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 4, in the Memorial Union ballroom at Michigan Tech. Check-in and free health screenings begin at 9. Self-defense basics for women begins at 9:45, followed by a healthy brunch and mimosa bar at 10:30. Dr. Vaitkevicius presents at 11. At noon, ladies are invited to participate in a Valentine wreath making project. To ensure enough supplies are on hand, ladies are asked to sign up for the wreath making project when registering for this Aspiring Women event.

“This is our fourth Aspiring Women event for the community and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how many ladies are falling in love with this program,” said Aspiring Women Coordinator Jenn Jenich-Laplander. “It’s a great way for women of all ages to come together for serious information and a seriously good time.”
