Ambulance Involved In Rollover Crash

An ambulance for U.P. Health Systems—Marquette was involved in a rollover accident over the weekend.

The Michigan State Police says the accident happened on US-41 near County Road 502 around 4:45am Sunday.

The full-marked ambulance was driven by 29-year-old Matthew Strong with 58-year-old Sherry Norris, both of Marquette, in the front passenger seat.

There were no patients on board and the ambulance was returning to the hospital.

The lights and siren were not being used at the time of the crash.

Police say Strong lost control on the snow covered and icy road.

The ambulance slid sideways off the highway and into the ditch when it rolled over onto its side.

Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts and no injuries were reported.

Strong was determined to be at fault in the crash for a Violation of the Basic Speed Law–too fast for conditions.
