Ahmeek Fire Department Receives Hose Grant

The Ahmeek Village Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department will be better able to fight fires, thanks to a recent federal grant,

The $42,623.00 award from the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant program will be used to replace existing fire hose, much of which was donated by downstate departments. Captain Michael Defina said the old hose no longer met safety standards. The new hose will be able to deliver significantly more water to fires.

It’s the third straight year the Ahmeek department has received a FEMA grant.
