One former Copper Country resident has allegedly murdered another former Copper Country resident in Arizona.
Police in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa say the body of 44-year-old Jacques Bourdeau was found in his bathtub with multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday evening. Boudeau’s Facebook page indicates he attended Lake Linden-Hubbell High School.
Investigators arrested 19-year-old Elliot Bennett Thursday, at a home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where he reportedly lived with his parents. Bennett is reported to be a Hancock native.
Eyewitnesses told police that Bennett arrived at Bourdeau’s home Tuesday with a gun. Shots were initially fired outside the home. Bourdeau then ran through the home, and locked himself in the bathroom. Witnesses say they then saw Bennett force his way through the door, and shoot Bourdeau.
Bennett fled the scene in a vehicle that matched the description of a car owned by his mother, which Bennett then reported as stolen later Tuesday evening.
Bourdeau was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bennett faces charges including first-degree murder, aggravated assault and first-degree burglary and is being held on a $1 million bond.
