Women in the Copper Country will once again march across the Portage Lake Lift Bridge in support of women’s issues.
The 3rd annual Women’s March will be held on Saturday, January 19th with participants meeting on the west side of the bridge by BridgeView park at 1:00pm.
The marchers will head up Quincy Street to Shelden Avenue then cross the bridge. Hats and signs are welcome.
This march is in conjunction with the Women’s March in Washington DC and Sister Marches across the country and around the world.
The first March was held on the day after the inauguration of President Donald Trump when thousands of women gathered in Washington, including a contingent from the Copper Country. Those women led the second annual march on the bridge last year.
Organizers say this is an inclusive, non-partisan event and that women of all ages, their partners and children are invited to participate. This is a diverse, inclusive, and grass roots effort to express concerns for rights, safety, health, justice, dignity, opportunity, and more.
