The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting the 3rd annual Public Safety Day this Saturday, July 20th.
The event will be from 12pm to 4:00pm at the Allouez township park in Mohawk and brings together all facets of Public Safety in Keweenaw County, including fire, medical, police, rescue and road commission to meet the public they serve for a day of fun and activities.
The pubic is welcome to meet members of the Ahmeek, Allouez, Copper Harbor, Eagle Harbor, Lac La Belle and Sherman fire departments and medical first responders, Mercy Ambulance, Keweenaw County Road commission as well as the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office and Rescue unit.
There will be a Jaws of Life demonstration by the Copper Harbor and Sherman Township Volunteer Fire Department, a smokehouse and air pack demonstration by the Ahmeek Volunteer Fire Department, K9 demonstrations by the Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, and the Ahmeek fire department and Keweenaw Sheriff’s Off Road Rescue unit will offer rides for kids in a rescue vehicle.
There will be a bouncy house and games for the kids and a doughnut eating contest with the Sheriff’s Office.
Hot dogs, pop, chips, candy and ice cream will be available, with Sheriff Bill Luokkanen manning the grill.
This entire event is free of charge, including the food.
