Calumet, Michigan—Two Faith Lutheran Church Scholarships were presented Sunday, May 21 at Senior Recognition Day at the Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet. Nathan Bruchman and Brooke Tienhaara will both receive scholarships. Nathan, a Calumet High School graduate, will be attending Michigan Tech and plans to study mechanical engineering. Brooke, also a graduate of Calumet High School, plans to attend Michigan Technological University and is interested in studying biology with a focus on pre-med or exercise science.
The two scholarships totaled $3,490.
Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet has scholarships available to recipients based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership potential, community involvement, and financial need. Preference is given to applicants who are active members of Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet. The scholarships are used to cover tuition, or for fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses at the college for the academic year 2017-2018.

The Calumet congregation, Faith Lutheran Church, is a continuation of the Finnish, Swedish, and Norwegian group that met in Trinity Lutheran in 1890 to organize the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church In America-Suomi Synod.
