The State of Michigan is sending nearly $2.5 million to help low-income families in the Upper Peninsula and the northern Lower Peninsula pay their home heating bills this winter.
The Michigan Energy Assistance Program grant to the Superior Watershed Partnership is funded by a monthly surcharge assessed by participating utilities.
Money can be used to pay for natural gas, electricity, propane or wood.
If you need help with your home heating bill, you can apply through the Superior Watershed Partnership website, or by calling them at (906) 273-2742. You can also dial 2-1-1 for information about utility assistance programs.
