That’s shelter director Mary Niemela, who tells us that money raised will go directly to help victims of domestic violence.
Giving Tuesday will take place on December 1st, immediately following the notorious retail events on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. It’s designed to reinforce the traditional holiday value of sharing.
This year, the Portage Health Foundation will match donations made to those 18 non-profits on Giving Tuesday, to a maximum of $200,000.
Over the past three years, the Giving Tuesday event has raised nearly $700,000, with $288,000 coming from the Foundation.
