“12 Dogs” Campaign Begins

The annual 12 Dogs of Christmas Campaign has begun.

Working with Houghton Community Broadcasting, the Copper Country Humane Society is looking for forever homes for a dozen dogs.

Humane Society board member Joe Cooper says a national increase in animal adoptions since the COVID-19 pandemic began seems to be reflected in our area…

“Our shelter manager, Becky, has reported that we do think we’ve seen an uptick in adoptions, and just been great.”

Adopting a pet from the Humane Society doesn’t cost much…

“$90 to adopt a dog, and for cats I believe it’s $60, but the nice thing about that is with the cost, that dog or that cat is already going to be totally vaccinated. We’re going to have tests done to make sure that there’s no other underlying health issues or anything like that, and they come microchipped.”

The 12 Dogs of Christmas Campaign will present one dog each weekday. Pictures and descriptions can be viewed on our radio station websites.

If you’re interested, call the Humane Society at 487-9560. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, you may need to leave a message. They’ll call you back.
