10 Good Things Happening In Houghton

Here are 10 Good Things that happened in Houghton recently.  Can you think of some more?

  1. The Lakeshore Drive crosswalks were painted and well received.
  2. The Michigan Municipal League (MML) and the Michigan Department of Treasury held a spring training session here and had high marks for Houghton.
  3. The kayak launch is in at Bridgeview Park.
  4. The Houghton Police Department boarded and returned a boat that got loose with the motor engaged on the Portage Canal and returned it to Hancock.
  5. The restrooms at Dee Stadium are nearly complete.
  6. Spots are being primed for more murals downtown.
  7. So far this year, Houghton is at almost $1.4 million in new home construction.
  8. People from all over the US who stayed at the RV Park so far this season love the park and the city.
  9. A lot of the dead and diseased trees were removed from Veteran’s Park and the Yooper Loop, which now look great.
  10. The Houghton Police Department has been doing regular bike patrols, which has been a great way to connect with the community and engage people.
