The Children’s Trust Fund Board of Directors has approved more than $1.2 million in grants to seven Michigan community-based organizations to support local child abuse prevention initiatives–including the Keweenaw Family Resource Center in the Upper Peninsula.
All $175,000 grants are for a four-year period. The winning grant proposals were selected through a competitive bid process from among 17 proposals submitted.
The other organizations receiving funding are: the Berrien County Health Department, Bethany Christian Services in Ottawa County, Cadillac Area OASIS/Family Resource Center, Family Service & Children’s Aid in Jackson, Michigan State University Extension in Saginaw and Oakland Family Services.
Officials say the grants support families that have risk factors or challenges that could impact positive parenting and optimal child development.
The Children’s Trust Fund is currently providing more than $1.7 million annually in support of children and families throughout Michigan.
