Live Twitter Chat on Hunting: Fewer Licenses, More Hipsters And Other Demographic Adventures

Fewer people are hunting in Michigan, a trend affecting state agency budgets for environmental conservation.

As the traditional father-son hunting culture ebbs, urban foodies, young women and other groups have taken up the sport.

Today from 2-3 p.m. EST, Michigan Tech will host a live Twitter chat about the science behind these hunting trends.

Richelle Winkler, an associate professor of environmental sociology and demography, and Chris Henderson, Winkler’s graduate student, will lead the discussion.

Henderson’s master’s work focuses on in-depth analysis of hunting and angling licenses in Michigan between 2012-2013 as part of Winkler’s broader analysis covering decades worth of data and trends.
