A wildfire that began almost a week ago continues to burn.
On June 29th, the wildfire was detected on remote Hiawatha National Forest lands north of Trout Lake.
The fire was started by lightning and it burns in difficult–to–reach wetland areas.
Through the holiday weekend, firefighters worked to locate access routes for firefighting vehicles.
Natural and man-made barriers were utilized to confine the fire to an area.
Though the fire has not grown, it has burned between 40 to 65 acres of land.
Wilwin Road and Forest Road 3343 remain temporarily closed.
