Be advised that the Portage Lake Lift Bridge is scheduled for an overnight closure this weekend.
The bridge will be closed for 11 and a half hours starting Saturday night at 9:00pm and will not reopen until 8:30am Sunday morning.
Snowmobiles will not be able to cross while the bridge is closed.
Waiting rooms on each side of the Portage Canal have been arranged for motorists without an alternate place to stay during the all-night bridge closure Saturday night.
The Magnuson Hotel Franklin Square Inn in Houghton and Lakeview Manor in Hancock have agreed to provide warm spots for motorists to sit and wait for the bridge to reopen.
Work on the bridge is expected to be completed in mid-April.
