Michigan residents will now be able to stay more informed about how legislation changes throughout the committee process. As the state celebrates Sunshine Week, a national initiative to educate the public about the importance of open government, House Speaker Jase Bolger announced yesterday that amendments and bill substitutes adopted by all House committees will now be available on the Michigan legislative website. The recommended amendments or bill substitutes will be available online after the committee reports are officially read in on the House floor. Bolger said this will greatly assist concerned citizens who are monitoring various policy initiatives and also help address a current problem in which people are reading and reacting to out-of-date versions of legislation.
