Michigan lawmakers return to the state Capitol Tuesday.
The top issues that affects all taxpayers is a reform package for Detroit Public Schools.
The Senate has already approved legislation that would send $715 million to Detroit to pay off old debt and allow the district to start anew.
The House has approved only $500 million.
One key part of the legislation involves oversight of schools in the city.
While Senators has approved a commission to open and close schools, Representatives have balked at the idea.
Speaker Kevin Cotter has said the House will stay in session until something is approved.
That means some lawmakers may have to miss part, or all, of the Mackinac Policy Conference that kicks off Wednesday afternoon.
