Lawmaker Wants to end Sanctuary Cities in Michigan

A state lawmaker is calling for the end to sanctuary cities in Michigan.

State Senator Mike Kowall is backing legislation that would pull state aid from cities that adopt policies, which bar employees from notifying federal authorities of illegal immigrants living in their communities.

Kowall’s action follows the recent death of a woman in San Francisco, who had been murdered by an undocumented immigrant.

There are currently only two sanctuary cities in Michiga–Ann Arbor and Detroit.
