Laplander Appears For A Pretrial

A Calumet man charged with multiple break-ins and stealing a car while out on bond was back in court Monday.

36-year-old Isaac Laplander is facing a felony safebreaking charge, two counts of Breaking and Entering with Intent and Unlawful Driving Away of A Motor Vehicle.

The charges stem from a break-in at an auto parts store in Calumet in April for which Laplander was arrested.

While out on bond, police say he stole a sportscar from a dealership in Calumet then fled to Wisconsin.

He was arrested again in Marquette in May.

He appeared in Houghton County Circuit Court where his attorney, David Gemignani, said they expect to have a resolution in the case soon.

Laplander had previously waived his arraignment in circuit court but is expected to enter a plea at his next pretrial in two weeks.
