L’Anse Business Owner Arraigned On Drug Charges

A man arrested by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team on marijuana charges was arraigned in Baraga County District Court Thursday morning.

55-year-old Dan Charles Grandy of L’Anse is charged with three counts of delivery or manufacture of marijuana, which is a felony punishable by up to four years imprisonment and a $20,000 fine. He is also charged with maintaining a drug house, a high court misdemeanor punishable by up to two years and $20,000.

Grandy was arrested Monday by UPSET detectives after they executed a search warrant on the Superior Relief Provision Center in L’Anse. Detectives say Grandy is the owner and operator of that facility. He has been released from the Baraga County Jail on bond.

Grandy is scheduled to appear again in court for a preliminary exam on October 13th.
