Lake Trout Festival Adds Cardboard Boat Race

Lake Trout FestivalThis year’s Baraga County Lake Trout Festival will include a new event for kids – cardboard boat races. Penny Jaeger from the Lake Trout Festival Committee says that competition will be held in two categories – a junior division for those ages 14 and under, and a senior division for those ages 14 through 18. Teams can include up to four people. Two must ride in the boat. There is no charge to take part. There are cash prizes for the top three finishers, and awards for best design, and best decoration. The top finisher in the senior division will win a half-day fishing charter on Keweenaw Bay. Get full details and registration information at the Lake Trout Festival website. The 10th annual Baraga County Lake Trout Festival and the Keweenaw Bay Classic Fishing Tournament will be held June 13th at L’Anse Waterfront Park.
