Lake Linden Man at Fault in July Accident

A Lake Linden man who was struck by a car in Calumet Township in July has been found at fault in the accident. An investigation by the Calumet Post of the Michigan State Police revealed 30-year-old Albert Labeau was walking southbound on M-26 in the southbound lane when he was hit by 21-year-old Rea Sturos of Lake Linden. Police say Sturos was unable to see Labeau as he came around the curved, unlit section of the road he was walking down. Due to the fact that Labeau was partially on the road at the time of the crash and on the wrong side, he was deemed at fault. Labeau was seriously injured as a result and taken to Aspirus Hospital in Laurium before being transferred to Marquette General. He has since been released and is at home recovering. Sturos was uninjured. Police say alcohol was not a factor and no tickets were issued.
