Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club Receives $4,000 Plum Creek Foundation Grant

L’Anse, Mich. – The Plum Creek Foundation recently awarded a $4,000 grant to the Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club to help replace track maintenance equipment.

According to Jay Green, president, funds will be allocated toward replacing its 2008 Rhino UTV, which is used to groom ski trails in harsh winter conditions. The vehicle is used year round, not only to create an ideal skiing surface, but for off-season trail maintenance.

“We are excited to replace this essential tool and keep our trails in pristine condition so that our members can enjoy the season as much as possible,” said Green. “Thanks to the help of the Plum Creek Foundation, we can continue to provide a great experience to skiers.”

The Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club will purchase the UTV as soon as a suitable replacement is found. The remainder of the funds needed to complete the project were provided by the City of Hancock.
