This Monday, the Keweenaw Renewable Energy Coalition is hosting a Keweenaw Energy Summit at the Finnish American Heritage Center on the campus of Finlandia University in Hancock. The primary purpose of this event is to unveil a plan to power 100 percent of electric demand in Keweenaw and Houghton Counties with alternate fuels like wind, biomass, solar. The event will feature presentations from world-renowned energy experts including Finnish leader Asko Ojaniemi on biomass and Rich Vander Veen, President of Mackinaw Power, on wind and solar. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and is free and open to the public.
