Keweenaw County Sheriff had a Busy Holiday Weekend

The Keweenaw County Sheriff had a busy holiday weekend. On Thursday the sheriff department responded to an incident in Ahmeek for a man threatening a woman with a knife. The suspect was arrested near Dollar General in New Allouez. Sheriff deputies were assisted by Michigan State Police troopers.

The following day on July 1st, Keweenaw County responded to a canoe paddler and his pup reportedly stuck on Porter’s Island. Deputies were able to use a boat from Fort Wilkins State Park for the rescue of the 56 year old man and his dog. 

And on Sunday deputies responded to a lost fisherman in Phoenix. After a quick search of the area, the 79 year old male was found and assisted to his vehicle.
