Keweenaw Community Foundation Fundraiser Off To Great Start

A new fundraiser for the Keweenaw Community Foundation is off to a great start, raising more than $4,500 for designated funds.

The Keweenaw Gold Club introduces a new commemorative natural stone tile each year that can be purchased in the name of an endowment fund.

The tiles are representative of 12 mines within Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties from 1853 to 1900.

This year’s tile features the Copper Falls Mine in Keweenaw County. The 2016 tile will represent the Clark Mine in Copper Harbor.

Also during the Keweenaw Gold event in January, KCF board members Jonathan Julien and Paul Freshwater received awards for their commitment and service to the community. Joe Kirkish was presented with the Herman “Winks” Gundlach award. His single contribution supports 17 endowment funds.
