Two local organizations in the Copper Country have received awards from the Upper Peninsula Economic Development Alliance. GS Manufacturing earned the UPWard Initiative Business Plan Award for the development of a forestry processor winch attachment used for the retrieval of logs, which the company will manufacture and sell. The award encourages entrepreneurs to explore new ideas along with creating and beginning new businesses. Also, the Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance received the Non-Profit of Excellence Award for leading economic development in the U.P.. The awards were presented during last week’s annual meeting of Operation Action U.P.
