After eight years of serving as Executive Director of the Keweenaw Community Foundation, Barb Rose is ready to retire. Rose has been working at the KCF since 2006 and she has done a lot for the foundation, including the development of 37 endowments and other funds worth over $2.6 million. Thanks to her work, the KCF is now one of the main organizations philanthropists in Houghton and Keweenaw counties go to. Among Rose’s accomplishments is her work in developing the Keweenaw Health Farm, a youth food initiative designed to improve the health of local children through a diet of fresh, locally grown foods in school lunches, which has since been implemented at the Adams Township Public Schools. KCF Board Chair Brent Peterson says Rose has great passion for the Keweenaw and it drives her dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to the KCF.
