KBIC Primary Election Approaching

The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Council primary election will be held this Saturday.

Registered voters may vote for two candidates from their district.

Voters in the L’Anse District will cast their ballots at the Zeba Community Hall.

Voters in the Baraga District will vote at the Ojibwa Senior Citizens Building.

Candidates in the Baraga District are the Incumbents Don Messer, Jr. and Warren “Chris” Swartz, Jr., with challengers Thomas E. Chosa, Jr., Dan Connor, Fred Dakota, Sue Ellen Elmblad, Bill Jondreau, Carole LaPointe, Hope E. Laramore, Charlotte Loonsfoot, Jerry Magnant and Debi Williamson.

Candidates in the L’anse District are Incumbents Susan J. LaFernier and Jennifer Misegan, with challengers Lyndon Ekdahl, Tracy L. Emery, Jesse Forcia, Jeremy T. Hebert, Jean Jokinen, Kevin Perrault and JoAnne Racette.

The top four candidates from each district will advance to the general election.
