Kantele Class Accepting Registrations

There are still places available in the 5-string kantele class offered by Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center as part of its community enrichment programming. The class begins on Wednesday, February 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the FAHC’s archive reading room.

Local musician Kris Kyro will lead the course, which will meet for eight consecutive Wednesday evenings. The course is open to anyone regardless of musical experience; the only necessary skill is to be able to count to five. In fact, Kyro herself began playing the kantele after taking an FAHC enrichment course several years ago.

The registration fee is $40 per student; advance registration is encouraged, to ensure the proper number of instruments and supplies can be available.

For further information, call the FAHC at 906-487-7549.
