Kalamazoo Shooting Suspect To Be Arraigned Monday

Six people are dead and two others injured after being targeted at random during a weekend shooting spree in Kalamazoo.

Police arrested 45-year-old Jason Dalton of Cooper Township for the nearly seven hour shooting rampage that spread across Kalamazoo County.

The shootings began around 5:40 p.m. Saturday when a woman was shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

The woman survived and was listed in serious condition.

The next shooting occurred around 10:00 p.m. at a Kia dealership where a father and son were gunned down.

The last happened just before 10:30 p.m. in a Cracker Barrel parking lot. Four women were killed and a 14-year-old girl, who was first reported dead, survived but is in critical condition.

Dalton was arrested without incident 12:40 a.m. Sunday in downtown Kalamazoo while waiting at a traffic light.

A semi-automatic weapon was seized during the arrest.

Police say Dalton had no previous record and they haven’t determined a motive.

Police also say Dalton was an Uber driver and was still picking up fares just 90 minutes before the shootings began.

Dalton is expected to be arraigned Monday on murder charges.
