MLB: Tigers Win in 10th
Miguel Cabrera’s double drove in the winning run in the top of the 10th inning, as the Tigers edged the Indians 5-4 Saturday. Justin Verlander revisited his mechanics, and turned in seven strong innings… giving up two runs on four hits, and striking out eight. Detroit built a 4-2 lead, helped by Victor Martinez, who hit a solo home run and an RBI single. Cleveland tied the game with solo runs in the eighth off Al Alburquerque, and the ninth off Joe Nathan. After Cabrera doubled in Ian Kinsler in the top of the 10th, Phil Coke closed the game.
Kansas City lost again, so the Tigers extend their lead in the American League Central to a game-and-a-half over the Royals.
The Tigers wrap up that series at Cleveland this afternoon. Max Scherzer will face Josh Tomlin. Hear the first pitch at 1:05 on AM 1400, WCCY.
Brewers Outslug Rockies
The Brewers took advantage of four Colorado errors, and beat the Rockies 9-4. Fine of Milwaukee’s runs came as a direct result of those miscues. Wily Peralta pitched into the eighth inning, gave up all four Colorado runs, and earned the win.
The Brewers conclude that set at Colorado this afternoon. Kyle Lohse will start against Tyler Matzek.
